Don't you hate it when...

... you're starving cuz lunch lets out so late, and the whole morning all you can look forward to Toonie Tuesday at KFC?

"Two Toonie Tuesdays please," I say as I'm thinking about having the extra box of KFC for lunch the next day. The guy just looks at me and starts laughing...

"It's Monday today."

WHAT?!?! I drove out of my way to find a KFC and it's not even Toonie Tuesday?! What am I supposed to do now? Oh man... he's still looking at me... Do I order something else or look cheap and leave cuz I don't want to pay extra for the chicken? Well, since I'm Chinese, 4 things went through my head before I made my move. In sequential order:

1. Maybe I can try bargaining with him and say something like, "can't you just pretend that it's Tuesday today?"... he's about my age... maybe he'll let it slide? No, I can't do that... I'm not in China :)
2. UGH. I don't want to pay so much for chicken!
3. But if I just leave, I will look cheap... cuz people always think that Chinese people are so cheap.
4. I examine his face... Well, he's not that good looking. Who cares what he thinks. (This part has nothing to do with me being Chinese.)

Then I turn around and leave.

That happened last Monday. Today, as I was driving home from work, I was excited that today was Toonie Tuesday... then I remembered what happened last week, so I just came home to make my own lunch.
