"if there ever was a time... let the time be NOW..."
At half, the score was 34-20, and we were losing since we were pretty much short one girl. By that, I mean, there was me and another girl supposed to play, and when the other girl showed up, her ankle had been badly sprained, (brusied black and blue) , and she couldn't run... she wasn't even going to play, but we had noone else. So I called for back-up. She didnt' get there until half time, but it was better than nothing. I had given up all hope when we somehow managed to crawl back into the competition and by the five minute mark, the score was 58-52. There was 1 set of downs left. So we kicked it off to them, and on their third down, they threw it to one of the their girls, and she caught it and started running for the end zone. Luckily, Drew flagged her at about the 5 yard line, and she didn't make it for a touchdown... We stopped them for their fourth.
"Does it make a difference? we're so far away from the other end of the field, we'll never make it anyways!"
That's what I was thinking in my head the whole time... Now, it's the last set, and we're down six points. It doesn't matter cuz I had already given up, and we had to make it the whole field length. Our first down was caught at about the half line, and the second we missed... all I could think was
"please don't throw it to me... this is too intense!!!"
Third was caught at about 5 yards, and the pressure was on. Man, I have never felt so uneasy for a rec game before... too much pressure, too much stress... if we dropped the ball on fourth down we lose the game... I felt the need to give the team a pep talk... it went something like this:
"if there ever was a time... let the time be NOW..."
That was the extent of it... then we all just started laughing... I couldn't think of anything after it... We caught the touchdown, and I cheered a big sigh of relief...
"YES!!! We won!!!"
..... NOT! I thought we won and was just relieved that I didnt' have to play anymore... there was way too much pressure... but you want to hear about pressure? We had only tied them, and there was only 1 last chance to win the game, and it was the conversion point. The conversion took us to a victory of 59-58. So cudos to the team for their hardwork... and by that I mean, I managed to drop 3 balls, and let the girls catch more than just a few balls... The rest of the team had to pick up my slack... I'm gonna hafta work on my game... :(
Tomorrow is soccer... let's hope it's less intense...

I think you are too competitive. Relax, enjoy, have fun. You usually do better if you arn't feeling like you're under pressure all the time, and it's more fun. Especially when it's a REC game. :P
