retiring this year.

I'm retiring from snowboarding after I get my fourth free one... which will be one more time. I went yesterday, and the weather was good with really soft snow, but i think I'm getting bored of it. So, it is here that I will announce my retirement from snowboarding.

Today was headache. I hate having to think. Studio is giving me headache. I can't wait until we get everything settled in for good.

P.S. Anyone know anyone who would like to teach guitar or violin at the studio?

Defeated.

Have you ever lost at anything before? Well, today was the first time that I ever lost at anything in my entire life. It all started at din din time when my mom and I were eating at Golden Island restaurant and I started to play a game... with myself. I was really thirty and drinking a lot of tea so I decided to challenge me to finish the entire pot of tea by myself(my mom only drinks hot water). By the end of the meal I was full of tea and couldn't have anymore. I decided to weigh the teapot and it was pretty light so I thought maybe I was close to finishing. I finally looked in and HOLY-KA-GEEBERS! --- --- there was still over half the teapot left! What the crap?!?! So I lost at my own game to myself. How sad. Wait a second! Doesn't that mean that I won as well? hmmmm... Now I don't feel so bad because I actually won. Thanks for reading. I feel much better now.

bad days.

Today was one of those days where everything takes up more time than it's supposed to, and nothing goes the way it should. The day wasn't that bad... it was just that I got home so late, and didn't make much progess with clients for the studio... ugh.

I met a dad and his 12-year-old boy today. After talking on the phone with the dad yesterday, I thought that this would be a sure bet student. Well, let's just say that this boy really scared the living lights out of me, and I really didn't try to sell our studio because I didn't want him to be in my studio. He wasn't the "boo" kind of scary... he was more of the "is he going to take out a gun and shoot someone" kind of scary. I couldn't tell if he was mentally handicapped or if he was just angry, but man, I was creeped out by him. He told me that he doesn't know how to play piano (he played for 5 years in China), and that he doesn't even want to take lessons, but his dad says he has to, so he has to do everything his dad says. I asked him to play something for me so I could gage what level he was at, but he said "NO!". Hmmm... so these are the students that teachers find most rewarding eh? Yeah, well, call me crazy but I'm not exactly crazy about this kid. Maybe I'm just not compassionate enough or something, but there is no way I will accept this boy as a student... NO WAY!

Oh yeah, I'm starting to plan for our summer program at the studio... if you're interested in volunteering, P/T or F/T work this summer, let me know. Our camp will be based on the fine arts (music, drama, art). Oh, and if you know any kids too, let them know to hold off from signing up with any other day camps, cuz ours is the place to be! --- YO!

Do you want to hear about my little aliens?

So much for staying away from everyone's germs. I got a phone call while I was at the studio today. My mom was sick at home, and I was to go buy medicine and come home to a house filled with GERMS! Well, I came home to a nice surprise... remember Andrew's surprise for me at the hospital? I'm sure my mom would not appreciate me sharing the details of her at her lowest, so I'll just stop there.

Oh yeah, you're reading because you want to hear about my little aliens. You see, I have these 2 students who are quite studious. Drew refers to them as "graceful socialites... the life of every party they attend." Anyways, with the studio starting, and me having to spread out my time and energy in my life, I realised that I wasn't as prepared as I could have been for my piano students at home. These two girls score within the top 5% of RCM students taking exams in Canada on every exam they've ever done with me, so the expectations that the parents have are really high. Anyways, I ended up rushing these 2 girls through their theory in order to complete everything in time for their exams. I graded several of their mock exams, as I do everytime in preparation for an exam, and they never reached over 80%. They kept making LOTS of stupid mistakes that we usually have time to fix, but this time we didn't. I thought to myself, "oh crap, now I've really screwed them over." I checked the marks online today, keeping one eye closed because I had failed them as a teacher. They scored 95% on one exam, and 98% on the other. "How in the world did they do that?!?!," I asked Andrew... he replied, "they are little aliens." I am glad they are aliens... it makes teaching much easier. That might also explain why they never talk... they simply don't know the English language ;)

so sore!

Oh my goodness! --- this morning I could barely roll out of bed! It was partially due to the fact that I spent the night rolling around thinking about how awful these next few months are going to be for me, but for the most part it was because of yesterday's football game. I decided that I was going to get some exercise and practice for the next season (so we can kick the He's and Ho's butts), so I exerted myself a little more than usual. Bad decision. My back aches, my legs hurt, my body is tired. Won't be doing that again!

My class this morning was very... fluffy. We had to pose for 30 seconds to portray a statement, and for those 30 seconds, if it wasn't us, we were to interpret and absorb what the pose was telling us. Yep, an emotion-filled class.

On a funnier note, lots of people went to a wrong class. And one guy even came to our class really late cuz he was sitting in another class, and didn't realise he was in the wrong room until and hour and a half later. Glad that wasn't me, cuz I would've probably just skipped and told the prof that I was sick... but hey, that's me.

March of the penguins

Maybe life's not so bad... I think penguins have it way worse... A life of suffering in cold weather year after year... If you want to watch a good documentary, watch that one...

Also, anyone reading this blog late, bring sports stuff for tomorrow afternoon... maybe we'll play something if people are up for it.

changed my mind

The movie last night was awful!!! I just saw it a few hours ago, but apparently my car got hit last night while I was parked at the movie theatre on the right side. Andrew saw it today and said that someone probably tried to park beside and got too close, and then drove away. So now I am left with one big dent by my front tire, with lots of scratches and am angry at the world.

plans fallen through

No boarding today :( I have to stay in Calgary to do "business stuff". No fun.

Ugh... school starts soon and today is my last day of official holidays. I am actually really dreading this semester lots... but I guess it's only a month before reading week and the beach for me... I'm missing 2 days of school to go to Hawaii, didn't want to, but there were no other flights coming back at the time that I wanted.

Last night went to watch Me, Mine and Ours at the cheap theatre. It was funny... I enjoyed it.

Going around the community posting ads up for new students for the studio today. Did that yesterday too. It's tiring and tedious, and a whole lot of time for so little area covered. I guess it's good exercise though? For some reason my abs are sore today... maybe from always having to get up and out of the car or something? HAHA.

extended visit

The Flames game on Monday ended up being a good game to go to since we won... except for the fact that the person sitting in front of us had a very strong, wonderful stench of B-O. AWFUL! I was breathing through my hoodie the whole time! On the right of us was a guy cheering for the other team, and on the left of us was a guy who had his 4 year old kid sitting in his lap, invading MY space. Andrew says that they probably bought one ticket for there, and one for the nose-bleed section cuz the kid was way too old to be sharing a seat with a parent. The kid had to pee once, and poo three times during the game, so we kept having to stand up to let them in. Oh, and let's not forget Jackson's favourite popsicle. One of those long ones with twisted colors? Yeah, the kid was eating one of them and waving it around, so I was extra uncomfortable cuz I didn't want his popsicle to get me dirty.

On another note, we went up to Edmonton for a day trip. Ended up staying over night cuz it was just too rushed, and since no one had to get back the next day, we took it easy, and had an extra shopping day. It was a nice relaxing trip, that seemed to go by really quickly... Next destination: HAwaii :)
